Quote - When this figure is finished, I'd like to see an intermediate figure offerd, that would be somewhere between the Hi-rez and the Lo-rez.  One that would combine and mix parts of both: Hi-rez Head, Hands, Feet, Genital Hip, with the rest being obtained from Lo-rez mesh.  Thus we'd have a highly detailed figure, somewhere between Posette and V4 in mesh density, but that would still go easy on the resources.

That's an interesting idea and I'll definitely have a look at that kind of thing once the more urgent tasks have been taken care of. Some of you know that I've written some software to transfer morphs and other information automatically between the low- and high-res version of the mesh and do other useful things like mirroring morphs. I'd like to streamline that some more in the future and also make it more versatile and user-friendly. I think it's entirely possible to generate a mesh with only specified regions (body parts or arbitrary groups) "lifted" to higher resolution and then convert existing morphs to that version of the mesh.

I think there might also be a way to generate a mesh that's exactly between the low- and high-res version, by doing "half" a subdivision step. The math looks like it might get a bit tricky, though, and the edge loops would be diagonal to the existing ones, so I'm not quite sure how useful such a beast would be.

All that said, there's a debate as how significant mesh sizes really are for Poser's memory consumption. I don't know if any systematic testing has been done in that respect, but I guess it's true that if one works with several large texture maps, then reducing mesh sizes might not help as much as one might hope.
