changes to materials can be done via a pose file, and if lucky they are names as Mat Poses. This is just how poser handles the pose file, which alters setting for the figure.

Mt5 and mc6 files are available in Poser   to do the same job , but people are used to mat poses, and it can be hard to get them to change.

Its easy to tell if something is a prop or a figure, just load it to the scene , and see if it appears in the figure pulldown , or the props list. Figures should conform, props should parent, but not allways.

Figures,props,hair all may load geometry
Pose,face, hand libraries are all poses.
