Subject: Questions about Daz Millenium figures...

arrowhead42 ( ) posted Tue, 02 February 2010 at 10:31 PM · edited Thu, 27 February 2025 at 12:37 AM

Hi everyone,
Just wondering about something.... all of Daz 3D's base figures are now free, so not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I downloaded them, only to find that I don't know too awful much about some of them. Specifically the pre-teen figures of Luke and Laura. I've looked around to see if I can find some basic character textures for Laura (I haven't looked for any for Luke, yet), but they seem pretty hard to come by.
So I'm wondering, are body textures for Laura (and Luke too, probably) proprietary? That is, are any other Poser, or millenium figures textures compatible with them? Just for example, are character textures for Don (Poser 5), James (Poser 6), M2 or M3 compatible with Luke, and likewise with female character textures and Laura? I hope some are compatible, because so far I haven't had much success when looking for textures for Laura.

Laura can use V3 textures and Luke can use M3. they are based on the same mesh.

I was hoping to hear that! You made my day (actually, it's night now, but you get the idea!) Thank you!

You can't use V3 or M3 morphs with them though or you'll end up with really long necks and other oddities. Or so I believe.

They have their own morphs which, unfortunately, needs to be purchased.

which is why the base models are free. DAZ is genius.

Yeah, the gen3 character textures are pretty much interchangeable (the only one that was different, IIRC, was the baby).
I have a L3 character that I had for sale a few years ago.  I should find it and upload it to the freestuff.

They maybe get them for free, since Stephanie 4 is on her way:-)

Results vary, but some V3 morphs work fine on Laura. This one from Most-Digital is a custom injection. I've used others that work, not sure whether they're all custom sculpts or not. The only issue I've found with these is that you may have to set the morph parameter manually using the dial.

I remember getting weird distortions on the original Millenium girls trying to use some V2 morphs. I think was able to make them work by adding them to the .cr2 using MorphManager. I don't know if that might fix some V3  morphs that otherwise might not work on the teens.

If you have any clothing for the V2 based Millenium Girls, the Laura Preteen and Maddie Preschool variants can wear them.

On the Generation 3 textures, the only issue I'm aware of is that Aiko 3 has a material zone on her legs that the other figures don't have. As a result, regular V3 MAT poses will leave her legs untextured. You have to apply the texture to that zone manually or edit the MAT pose if you don't have an A3 specific one for the texture.

OK, well here's a related question then....

I'm looking for a seam guide for the Poser 5 figure called "Will". He's the male child that comes with Poser 5. I have the basic texture for him, but I need some help lining somethings up that I'm doing. I looked to try and find a seam guide for him, but so far no success. It seems to me that a lot of the Poser 5 characters have gotten a bad rap.... I don't think that's very well deserved. I like Don, Judy, Will and Penney.

If there wasn't one on the content CD and you can't find one then making one in UVMapper is probably your only bet.

Hi WandW,
I did a search through the free stuff before I posted this last message and after about a gazillion pages, I still hadn't found them. I guess I worded my search wrong or something.
So I went to the link you posted here in the forum, and found the free stuff thumbnail for the templates, but when I clicked to download it, it says the file isn't there. It's a dead link. It's this link:

Anywhere else they might be stored?

Try this link, arrowhead42.  Kuroyume may have updated the page without updating his link here in the freestuff.  I'll let the freestuff team know ;)
