Coltrace tutorial is easy.
Hairs can grow on any mesh, not only skullcap.
Go to hair room and select hair groups on chest, collars, arms etc.
For unimesh figures I use "David Hairy" transparency maps.

In PS I've modified maps reducing hairs number. For example remove all hairs on the chest painting it black.
Later I use it as a blending map. I blend texture with solid black colour.
