Regarding your other question, anything glows allows you to make a light source out of an object. Not sure what that would have to do with Indirect Lighting.
I find anything glows to be a hassle. I usually use glow in the shader to make the object seem to glow, then put a normal light near the object to produce the actual light output. If you have a texture for a light, or flame, you can use the same texture map in the glow shader and get a nice effect. Use a 0-100% or 0-1000% modifier to adjust the glow.
