Subject: rendering animations with png files???

VirtualDub will do it. File->Open Video File and select Image Sequence from the file type drop down. Then in the file open dialog, select the 1st in the numbered sequence of .png files and it will load all of them. You only see one image, you have to move the timeline slider to move through the sequence. Select your codec and save as .avi. That's just from a quick trial I did so I don't know what the limitations are other than those imposed by individual codecs r.e. image size ratio etc. I only use VDub for transcoding repairing.

Should be possible in Sony or most editors though and the procedure should be in the manual.
