Click the Windows Start button, then click "Run..."

In the dialog that asks what to run, type: services.msc

This brings up the Microsoft Management console. (See my screenshot - click for full size)

Find "Indexing Service".

If it's running, stop it using the "Stop" button or right-click and Stop.

Right-click and hit properties. Change Startup to Manual, like mine. Save it.
