Especially working within the confines of Poser. No Radiosity model (yet). I think that you are doing well with the soft shadows. Getting skin to look "real" is an enormous challenge!!!

I am just back into Poser after a long hiatus- I think there are sub surface scattering options now- are you using those?

 I wonder if a little more specular highlighting might help? Most people would have a at least a thin layer of perspiration out on a warm sunny day
