After three restarts of PoserPro 2010, it did seem to straighten itself out and work again.  I did not delete the preferences this time around, just wanted to see what restarting the program would do.  As my self test, I just open the program, load the default "ball" from the props library, and then hit my delete key.  Then I click "ok" in the dialog box.... if it just sits there - I roll my eyes, pull out a little bit more hair, and start over.
