As an example, let's take just one feature difference - layered rendering.
As part of your workflow, do you render diffuse, specular, shadows, and reflections to separate images and then postwork them as layers in Photoshop? If no, this feature is worth ZERO to you. If yes, how often? If you do it every day, this will save you an hour a day or more. If you do this for a living (you're a PRO) and you earn $20 / hour, then in 5 days you will recover $100 of income because you work faster. But if you cannot find additional work to fill the saved hours, then you won't actually make any more money by saving time in workflow, so it again becomes worthless. However, maybe having an extra hour of time off is worth $10 per day, so now you would think it gives you back $50 / week as a result of you having more time to relax, or simply because you're less bored doing tedious things over and over.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
