Responding to the original post, things aren't so dire. Microsoft has not yet stopped supporting XP and Vista. Microsoft is no longer supporting versions of those OSs that have not been updated to the latest service pack (which is a free update). If anybody is concerned about losing such support, all they have to do is update their systems to the latest service pack. Anybody who hasn't done that already probably isn't too worried about not getting updates since the service packs represent cumulative security updates and other fixes to the operating system. Microsoft simply isn't supporting versions of those systems that are out of date to begin with.Microsoft does eventually stop updating old operating systems and XP is currently supposed to end in Apr 2014.
