Also be aware of your aperture f-stop value on your camera. The higher the value, the greater the depth of field; the lower the value, the shallower your depth of field. Also, if you use DoF in your render, increase your pixel samples to 10 or greater or your shadows will appear very grainy. However, this will increase your render time significantly.
