Quote - Once the .vmf Trimmer is together, you'll have a wide range of available screening methods which can create data files for merging. I sort of think the editor should be kept simple. I think some ideas you've mentioned may not belong in the editor, but in the Trimmer. Among other things, the editor can be run outside of Poser if desired, so it can't necessarily access Poser data. A screening tool which operates within Poser will cover many situations, reducing any need to complicate the comparison or editor scripts with excess options.

Quote - I was glad to get rid of them [the deltas], actually, and I still don't see any indisputable value for carrying the locations in the data file.

Ahh - so since the editor "...can't necessarily access Poser data." then you wouldn't have all the data necessary in the (current) .vmf file format, since the deltas are no longer there... right? And yet... you see no need to add that (distances/deltas, not locations, btw) info back to the files (...to be available for unforeseen processes).

*[I'm not suggesting that you do, btw.. only trying to point out how your statements/logic are sometimes confusing or seem contradictory to me - an "outside of Poser" application is a prime example of when that additional data might be useful]
*I really don't want to focus on this, but when you say things like "I was glad to get rid of them, actually", it almost sounds like the data was pissing you off, just being there  - and I'm still trying to understand why? Again I'm not trying to convince you to add it back, I'm just trying to understand your reasoning
.
As for the rest of it - they were (as usual) only my suggestions. Feel free to agree, disagree or adapt any of it/tehm as you see fit - I was just trying to clarify what those suggestions were and why I made them
.
I'll go ahead and add the dot-check-value args to those routines in the PYD in the next update.
