Where can a beginer wanting to learn to create and sale props and characters. Learn to do so in Laymans terms or steps, without getting lost in the process??

Do you think beginners should create stuff for sale? Isn't that better left to the craftspeople who know what they are doing?

And they call me politically incorrect. Jnighthawk, your best bet is to not do what most of us (or at least myself) have done: bite off more than you can chew. You try to go right to the top and get frustrated as anything, and not stop to see that there are other things in Poser that you could do quite easily. Sadly, this thread doesnt include information on how to do props and characters. But i would suggest against it for the moment, since you are, as you said, a beginner. Everyone has a right to put items up for sale at the Marketplace. It isnt just for "craftsmen"... they had to pick up that Poser box for the first time at some point too. So while I applaud your enthusiasm, my suggestion is to work with what you can for a while, and gradually work from there. Besides, the more experience you have, youll have good right to be even more proud of your product. a3-ro2.gif

Try the Amapi forum. There is a free modelling (Amapi) program link, there. Also, www.openfx.org...another good free modeller. I guess I am coming from the standpoint that, if you want to learn something, there are so many forums, here where you can pick up tips and tricks...Not to mention the great tutorials....I get motivated. I visit the forums. I look for tutorials. I read them. I learn. I thought that was how most folks did it. If I get hung up somewhere along in the learning process...then, I ask a specific question in a forum. Try Amapi. Download the free one. Do the finger exercises, and, try the forum project, as well. I think you will be glad that you did. (I just had so hoped, that not getting a real positive response...you would seek farther on your own, oh, grasshopper.) Pop...pop...pop.

Jnighthawk, a short while ago I wrote a tutorial that walks you through modeling a gingerbread man, and making it a poseable figure, using Poser with some different freeware programs (anim8or for modeling, UVMapper, and PhiBuilder). The end result is pretty primitive, but it does take you through the basics. The link is above, in case you find it useful.
