I've been at this for over ten years now, and I'm only, at this point, delicately skirting around the edges of making my own stuff when I need it.
Even the simplest things take two hours to get up and working, if everything goes right. Hair? Forget it. I've got some theories on how to make great hair, but the execution eludes me.
I use Max, and even with the latest there just seems to be some tools which are obviously needed that don't exist, which means lots of manual moving of verticies.
A greatly detailed model of clothing could take days of your free time to have ready for your scene. Some of you people act like it takes five minutes.
So, of course peope are going to use bought items! And really, the "tired old argument" that all V4's look the same is absurd. Only the noobiest noobs use a stock V4. If they do, they are most likely just new.
Anyone who wants to work with the default Poser Characters, God Bless you and Godspeed...but DO please realize your place int he universe: you are the minority.
Most people that I've seen defend them tend to have results that are less than impressive. Santicor, the body is excellent but the face, I don't know...need to see something more nuetral to really judge.
Nevertheless, it makes my very point: You have to totally redo the default figures to make them look vaguely human. The ones that are really good look like...guess what?...V4 with Morphs++ dialed in.
