A maybe silly question: Is it a feast day in the US either or is it a working day?

And this was very unspecific, I know:
*By the way and because of Maundy Thursday: I was pretty puzzled to find out that it's name is Good Friday - somehow this sounds more than just a bit strange to me.

Of course I wanted to say: the day after Maundy Thursday (here called Karfreitag).

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!
