Try turning it on and see what happens, also try it with a somewhat darker skin texture too. Just a basic scene, nothing special and no additional lighting. If you can try this and post some pictures it may help narrow down the issue.
Probably why this one has never bitten me. I never use the poser shader tree, all my figures get SkinVued.
Also, I'm still using Poser 7. There's nothing in later versions (apart from rigged collada export) that I'd find at all useful so I never bothered to upgrade.
