Yes I have. Have you? The manual is like an encyclopaedia, except with crucial missing bits. IM not-at-all HO, it's fairly useless except for the odd reference-type search, and then it's a crap shoot whether you actually find the answer or not.
Manual-writing must be one of the most difficult things a human can do, since so few actually get it right.
I have found that Poser (like most complex programmes) is not something you are going to get up to speed on in a hurry. As Laurie said, take your time and play with it. There are basic tutorials like Geep's that will sort-of get you essentially functional, but to become profficient, you will need to give yourself a lot of time in each room. And I mean a LOT. I've sort-of settled in the material room... not that I understand it all that much yet, but certain things like how materials and lights and the renderer work together are starting to gel. And all that I didn't get out of a manual. Simply because the manual doesn't tell you anything about the behaviour of nodes or what the channels of PoserSurface() actually work like. I got all that from this forum.
So, you're in the right spot. If something's been covered in another thread, someone might just point you tot hat thread,or you can save them the trouble by using the Search function which sort-of works for most stuff.
Good luck!
ETA: I was going to say, you might try at the top of this forum... Acadia has compiled a comprehensive and impressive list of relevant and informative threads on just about any subject Poser, but then I read further down and see she's given you a brilliant start-up process to follow which I'm going to go through as well. It's like playing tennis: you learn best from those who know how to play well... and there are excellent Poserites on this forum.
