Those are very cool.  I wonder if anyone could reproduce those in Bryce?  :)

peedy ( ) posted Mon, 03 May 2010 at 12:09 AM

If I can, I don't know.
But I sure will give it a try!  :-)

that splash in the corner... how did you do that?
i love that wheatish /barley colour

peedy ( ) posted Fri, 07 May 2010 at 11:37 AM

It's a splash (object), made by rmisra.
I got it on 3DCommune.
Just added it.

Thank you for your comment! :-)

Yours are very good, indeed.
But, to repeat your question:
Can you do it (all) in Bryce? ;-)

BecSchm ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:16 AM

I suppose you could make a nice terrain wave in Bryce.  Maybe I will try it some day; I don't know when.  In the meantime, bring out the comfy chair!

peedy ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:19 AM

Ok. :-)

erosiaart ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:30 AM

um..er..may i join you two with a comfy chair? You can share some of my watermelon juice laced with vodka and tons of ice.. :-p :-p (pardon me, it's a humid 39 deg Cel  at 8 pm.. don't ask what the temp was during the day..)
btw.. bec and peedy.. curious question..is there anyway you two can remove that joint where the wave meets the sea? it works out like two objects..the sea, then the wave. bec..if you modeled it in hex..can you model the ocean and the wave as one?
Just an idea..
great work you two..

peedy ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:36 AM

Oh lovely drink! hehe

That was my biggers problem.
Because I used tori instead of terrains it was quite difficult to get is as is now.
Hm, maybe if I'd used a terrain for the sea..............

erosiaart ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:42 AM

peedy.. i love you for the mumbling.. ;-p
Using terrains would be a good idea..if you can manage that..
Cheers
rosie  (wishing she was on the south pole.. )

peedy ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 9:49 AM

Hehehehe
I'll try.

peedy ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 12:40 PM

Phew.....
Ok, so here's the version with terrains instead of tori and plane.

peedy and erosiaart - Sorry for not joining in sooner.  I've been out of town most of the day (Mother's Day today in the US) .  peedy I thought your first render with the tori was very nice.  Very good idea really.  erosiaart, yes, good point - the wave should blend with the sea better.  Maybe some time I will see if I can fix this.  And as for the watermelon w/vodka drink, count me in!  I don't think we have to worry about the comfy chair unless Bryster shows back up ...

:)

erosiaart ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 8:24 PM

Peedy... .. If I had to compare the two....first one..it's torus.. rounded like waves. And it's  conceptual.  thought of ice formation with this one. Waves are less jagged.. This works great as a frozen wave .. dunno if you saw pix.. (pix of the waves)  Great work.

Bec.. see what you can do with hex.

Lots of watermelon juice and vodka and ice here.. and as for that comfy chair.. Chris..thebryster..better keep away......

Willie... wow... wow..and wow....
nature's motion caught in time..

BecSchm ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 8:56 PM

Yup.  Wow!  That looks real!

skiwillgee ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 8:57 PM

BTW, Those photos by Clark Little are awesome. I have seen these before and I was asked by a friend if they were real.  Any surfer can tell you, "Yes they are!" This guy positions himself right in the impact zone and snaps the shot.  In one of the photos of a sandy shore break at Wiamea you can see the bell tower that sits on the point.  I lived up the street from that tower in Pupakea.

I've seen shore break that was overhead and it is not a fun place to be.  This guy is nuts!  But he sure has some terrific photos for the pounding he takes.

BecSchm ( ) posted Sun, 09 May 2010 at 11:10 PM

What a cool place that would be to live!  I'm a land lubber myself - far inland.  As far as realistic waves go, guess I will just have to keep trying!

peedy ( ) posted Mon, 10 May 2010 at 12:00 AM

I agree that my wave looks more frozen.
Love those pics!

skiwillgee.
That looks fantastic!
I think it will be hard to get that effect in Bryce.
But I am not giving up. ;-)
