1.3 ghz celeron says it all.   :)  
I got a laptop from Walmart for $500 which is dual processor 2.1 ghz , 3gb or ram and was Vista.
If you can afford the extra cost its a much better system for any applications other than browser and email.  A desktop system of the same specs is now around $350.
