The tongue is a very important part of human anatomy. How would you lick an ice-cream, jelly-bean, or jelly roll? How would you clean gravy stains off your tie, test a battery, or show politicians your disdain, if not for your tongue?

When Cage's post reminded me of Antonia's tongue, I decided to do a little experiment with a prop version of Antonia's tongue, some magnets, and some ERC. In the above animation, the bending of the tongue is implemented mostly through magnets, but the controls for the bending are dials in the tongue prop. Though it is rather early days yet, I think magnets are a very promising idea for getting Antonia's tongue to bend in interesting and complex ways. Though perhaps, due to the complexity, it is better suited as an add-on.
