Subject: What character to use for a 15-year old girl?

DangerousThing ( ) posted Sat, 29 May 2010 at 7:53 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 5:05 AM

Hello:

I'm working on some concept art for a webcomic, and one of the characters is a short 15-year-old girl.

I prefer V4 because I have a lot of clothing for her, but I'll accept anything at this point.

While I will use realistic characters during the posing phase, I will probably use some comic shaders.

If there isn't a good solution, is there a good artist's reference so I can model one?

Thanks in advance.

Laura from DAZ3D ?

Is Laura old enough? The character I'm thinking of should be just old enough to be both a woman and a child. Somewhere about early high school (US) age.

And I'll have to check if Laura is short enough.

There is a Teen Ashley version of Victoria4, as well, if you need to check that out.

I can't tell how "old" or "young" these figures are, in equivalent Human age.  In any case, real Human teenagers vary in terms of maturation rates during those growing years.

Currently I'm using a "Teen Lenka" character for V4 which has V4 scaled about 94%. I'd rather have something a bit shorter, but it's the best I've found.

Laura is just too short when compared with V4 and she looks too much like a child.

I still want to see a really good set of height morphs that take into account the different reasons people are different heights (age, leg length, chest length, etc.). Someday when I have the time to do the research I should be able to write a script to do this. Oh well.

Thank you very much for the responses.

How about LittleOne? She is at Daz, and she really has that child-woman thing going. Lots of hair fits and freebies for her too here in the freestuff section. I think you can buy a Wardrobe Wizard module to support her as well.

Otherwise you could consider Stephanie Petite. She is also short in stature.

I don't have LittleOne, but I do like Steph Petite. Unfortunately she doesn't fit my conception of the character. Most of the SP heads look too old, though the height is right.

With Lenka (market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php) I can use many of my V4 clothing items, of which I've accumulated way too many. And she is barely short enough to fit the bill.

I've got to take my dog for a walk before the rain comes down on my head like a judgement from heaven.

Check in Freestuff. There is a face morph for Stephanie Petite called "Autumn". She looks about the right age.

The teen Ashley character is quite good, and needs a little work to keep her looking childish. The original aiko figure can work.

Here are 3 possibilities:

Mel for Laura

Olivia for Laura PT3

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=34804

S3 Melanie & V3 Brandy

Melanie looks good and is one of the better Stephanie characters. She looks close to mid teens to me.

There are a couple others that I've seen in the past but I can't locate them right now.

 For V4, check out:

Both of these will require that you scale them down a bit, but I think they might be good candidates. I've had fair results making teen girls by taking some of the younger looking female characters for V4 and adjusting the "young" dial a bit, especially on the face. A teenager's face has the length it will have as an adult, but there's still a bit of baby fat there. Therefore, try the heavy morph just a bit on the face. As to bodies, it's anyone's guess. The breasts will typically not be all that large, although we've all seen exceptions, and the hips will not be quite as full as in a mature woman.

Best advice I've got for you.

Sam, you're being silly again! He wanted a REAL girl, not an anime character! ROFL.

I've seen it.

There is also this one.

Three different age morphs.

That one actaully looks about right for a 15-year-old human.  The eyes are not so huge.  And the face is aged some.  It's not just a 9-year-old's head simply slapped on an 18-year-old's body.

Thank you all.

I did think about A3; she is still a favorite of mine.  But I have not seen a decent "young woman" texture for her even with the realistic morph. A3 is great for some things, and was meant to look like a teen-aged anime character, however this didn't seem to carry over.

I think that Aislinn looks too old, and I'd totally forgotten about Tindra (mainly because her "teen" morph is too tall for what I need).

I thank everybody and didn't mean to start any wars.

See if she comes without makeup.  That always adds age.

All this being said, the Lenka character you have been using is lovely, except for the size issue. Can't you just scale her down another 5% or so?

Aislinn looks believeable as a teen to me. There seem to be makeup options that are either very subtle or totally natural and look quite young. A very versatile character, and I like that she doesn't look too obviously like V4. I don't know about the height though, you may have to scale.

This has been fun, I love looking at character options. Please show us a render of your final choice.

I've decided to go with Lenka. I can fit most clothing to her which I can't with some of the others.

Since I'm going to be moving this thing to blender eventually, I've thought of going completely blender, but that's a lot of work (though there is a plug-in to import poser characters including rigging). But I will be starting in Poser for the foreseeable future and will put up a gallery image of her.

Thank you for all the input. I will have to look at the ones I don't know much about.

And yes, I have all the Arcebus characters and for one reason or another decided against them.
