I'm sorry it happened to you, but it does bring up a good question. And the black eye is completely in line with his behavior.
From now on, my browser is set to "Delete all cookies on exit". Claire knows all my passwords - so does my father - so in a real emergency, the people I can really trust will be able to get in.
May be a little paranoid but I'm considering passwording the whole system with TrueCrypt.
