As a veteran of forums (fora?) chatrooms, noticeboards etc. it's always amused and amazed me how differently people react when there is no physical interaction, just virtual.    Now I'm not going to preach that I've always been a good boy, I had my share of flame wars before I grew up, but here's the thing...  Take a step back and think to yourself "if this guy/gal was in the room here with me for real would I say these things to his/her face?"
It's very easy to abuse people when there are no "real" consequences, sorta like hiding behind a wall and tossing a brick at someone then running away.  It ain't big, it ain't clever, and it sure as hell ain't civilized.
