He ran afoul of the "Clearance" section for not having enough sales I'll bet.

Yep, and I moved him but that store closed to the public so I just closed out my products there.

Ah well, guess I'll try one more place for him but can't say it here...lol.
I'll do that tomorrow.

If you look on sharecg, you'll find a free Apollo tex by me.

A HOMELAND FOR POSER FINALLY

What was that fourth part of Apollo Maximus that was to have been released "soon"?

I, too, think Apollo is a wonderful figure. Indeed, his true potential has never been realized.

Anything new being developed for him? I'm particularly interested in body morphs and facial morphs.

It was supposed to be his updated bodysuits I believe.

Quote - I like his scaling abilities, a lot of people like his flexibility for posing, etc.

Those are the two best things I like about him.

Dan, your art work is exceptional. I am very impressed by all of it, and certainly by what you've done with Apollo Maximus.

Wow joequick, congratulations on creating some amazing characters for Apollo. Superb ! .... I wouldn't mind seeing you release a morph pack for him.

And having a website "Apollo Forever" (maybe as a "brother site" to PosetteForever ?) sounds like a great idea.

Yes, and I'd be happy to pay for such a morph pack.

inquire ( ) posted Sat, 17 July 2010 at 4:19 PM

Quote - I can try to make some morphs or textures, any requests?

Well, as others have mentioned, muscle definition. Veins showing just by themselves would be great. M4 has a combined muscle-vein displacement set. Whether it's by displacement or bump map or whatever, muscular definition and vascularity (veins showing) would be my requests.

ice-boy ( ) posted Sat, 17 July 2010 at 5:04 PM

impossible ot have veins without teh displacement or normal map.

the mesh is not detailed enough.

why not use displacement or normal map for veins?

inquire ( ) posted Sat, 17 July 2010 at 5:52 PM

Well, someone above said he wanted muscular definition without displacement, that's why I included "bump."

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 17 July 2010 at 6:33 PM

One doesn't exclude the other. A Muscle definition could be made with some morphing and the vascularity with a displacement map.

I do like Apollo, I just think it's hard to morph away his very soft, chubby features. Not impossible, but hard.

I'd tend to agree with TG about creating definition morphs for Apollo's body, but my personal experience is that he has one of the most enjoyable faces to morph of all figures I've used (particularly with the morph brush). Just the right amount of mesh density for me there.

Just out of interest, some time ago when there was still an Apollo forum at CP, I was tinkering with making some better muscle definition for Apollos body. I got as far as the thighs at least, with some degree of success. I'd have to say that the mesh flow didn't look too pretty to achieve this though.
Oh, and to re-establish nice bending you'd probably need to incorporate a whole slew of new JCM's - a lot of work all told.

Here is a quick picture I did using some of the morphs I did for muscle. It is default everywhere else but I tried to add some definition. A lot can be done with displacement but this has no maps.

Not to knock your freebies Joe, but it looks like Wolverine has two feedbags hanging out the leg holes of his shorts! Just one of the reasons I never took to Apollo even after buying him. He just always looked too, um, Inflatable to me.

Quote - Brad?  That's a new one on me.  Will he be released soon?

I'm a collector of obscure Poser figures.  I have Vincent Parker, Rikkishi (with his add on packs), and some others.

Another figure I hope goes into further development is Behemoth 2.  I like  his more human face better than the original version.

I just got Rikishi. I had him in my wish list for well, since his release and when I got an email announcing a big sale I picked him up with a few of his character pacs and of course all his freebies! It was cool to get a heavier more realistic heay set guy without breakng the render power house with big mesh giants like M3/M4. Now if I can get some pictures of myself in my birthday suit I can map to Rikishi the heavy set guy qill become my AVATAR!

That was one of the items of discourse when anton released him. He never built any tonus/muscularity mts into apollo. his argument ws that the figure ws so good there would be many third party content creators who would fill that void. i guess they never materialized. i have seen some nice renders done with him and obviously there was some serious attempt in most of them to fill that void by the characters these individuals created...if i remember there was a cool fat man and a beautifully rotind female rebuilt from apollo.....hich i think were good because of their soft fleshy surface. but muscular type figures with apollo for the most part just have never seemd to look right. the daz figures had it locked up with that.

oh sorry joe i quoted the wrong post and can't figure out how to fix it.

Yeah the kids rock but the adult guys are too "soft" looking compared to the DAZ males. The kids don't normally get that hard body when so young so apollo works sweetly for kids and soft round fat plumper characters....in my opinion anyway.

After cataloging everything in my runtime, I can state with some assurance that where other characters have 5-6 morphs, it was rare that I had less than 100 for Apollo...;)

HMM interesting Not sure about what "other characters" you have installed
but M2 ,which is now free,
has:
"Features- Michael 1 .Obj

  • Brand New .Cr2 with Michael 1 Morphs
  • Plus Hundreds of All New Morphs - 105 Full Body Morphs
  • 243 Partial Body Morphs
  • 230 Head and Facial Structure/Expression Morphs
  • .Cr2 and.Obj Files Modified to Fit Michael to the P4 Man Proportions
  • Endless Morph Combination Possibilities For Differing - Physique
  • Age
  • Weight
  • Height
  • Ethnicity
  • Characters
  • Compatible with Accessories, Textures, and Morphs for Michael 1.0
  • Compatible with Accessories made for the P4 Male
  • Genitalia Option"

This of course Excludes the now free Boris Morphs
and BTW for M2 Users I have been given permission
to redistribute the free "spubba troll" morph that give M2 larger hands, wrists& Feet
I will PM me if you would like  it as well
see attached Image of the Morph.

Cheers

Hey dude do you have any addies where I can find images of Boris? I rember the name and I have a lot of Capsces animal works but nothing for M1/M2. Also the V2 rework she is talking about, Roxanne?

kobaltkween ( ) posted Thu, 11 November 2010 at 10:53 AM

or just go to Capsces' site.  i can't link directly much because her site is an old-fashioned frames site.  but you can check out the "Beth's gallery."  i also suggest going to the downloads page, scrolling to the bottom, and looking at what's available for "Lit'l uns/Roxanne/Boris."

I think that Apollo is still the best male figure in poser. Anton really knew what he was doing when he modelod Apollo. It's a fantastic mesh and so well rigged. I still use Apollo a lot and like him.

But the funny thing is, that when I released a freebie for Apollo, people pretty much told me that they'd rather like to see free stuff for vicky. Some guy even thought that my Apollo freebie was so horrible, that it only merited one star. He thought it was so bad, that it wasn't even worth commenting on. And maybe it was that bad. But the point being is, that lack of enthusiamism from the poser community is a big part of the demise of Apollo.

D'oh! Why do things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me?

Don't let them get you down.  you make great things.  It's a detriment to the "art" of the average consumer that they don't appreciate the merits of Apollo, and really, really really really, don't let some guy who gives you a one star rating impact your evaluation of what you've made.  You're the best modeler of superhero stuff we've got going.  If some twit wants to give you one star because they can't recognize that Apollo is still a superior figure to M4, just don't pay attention to them.  I had one asshat open up 16 accounts just to leave me one star ratings, and he'd use them all to drive my star ratings down, and when sharecg caught him and deleted his surplus accounts, he just did it again. Don't pay attention to that kind of feedback.  People have all kinds of reasons for doing the things they do, the least of which is usually offering an honest critique of your work.

If I'm the best Superhero modeler in poserdom, then that whole genre is pretty much screwed, dead and on life support. Depressing thought.

16 accounts, just to leave you 1 star ratings ?!?! That just  boggles the mind. It's like every week internet gets slightly more weirder.  Where do these guys come from? There must be some dark spawning pit somewhere in the world, where they just breed these trolls, for the soul purpose of making everyone elses online experience more miserable.

Well I recently had my own encounter with the darker side of Share cg, but I'll leave it at that.

I have mike4 as well. I mean he is free after all, but I don't like him. Just so happens that, Werts released a Samuel L Jackson like morph recently and I liked the character Jackson played in the Star Wars movies (my guilty pleasure), so I maybe compelled to make some "cosplay scifi" costume for mike 4.

But  Apollo is far better. He is practically the only male poser figure that I use. I mean, even just out of the box, Apollo looks like a real man. When I show my poser "art" to  my friends, who are not into poser or 3d, always say that Apollo is the most natural looking figure. I certainly agree with them.

I have some Apollo projects that I am currently working on. I'd like to update my first Apollo freebie. I just hate how the cape looks. Dynamic clothing would be so much better, but people don't seem to like dynamic clothing. And then there are the Daz users. So  I feel like I am forced to make these confirming capes, but they don't look and feel very natural.

And as a big Dare Devil fan , I'd like to make something inspired by that character. I just don't really understand how Apollo's scale dials work. I am staring at the cr2 files and scratching my head.  Maybe some casual clothing would be nice too. So many projects, so little time.... Plus people cry for more Vicky 4 stuff as if she was in dire need of more support...

D'oh! Why do things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me?

I'm frustrated on one point.  I DO love using Apollo  ... I just need the bodysuit ... hair, beard  ... the maps  are there and I can't use them for the characters.  I still use him a lot ... and will even  more as I build my portfolio for Illustration and graphic design ... but the  bodysuit is essential and ... not there.  Just had to get that out.
