 I've been playing with this.

And found out a few things. First of all, the Cartoon-With-Lines preview is great for a quick idea of where the shaded areas will occur. It's not foolproof, but it's a help.

Rotating the camera helps with the dark edges, of course that's not always an option though.

I made a pic. Link to it attached. It's made with a mix of this shader, an overlay of the Cartoon-with-lines preview and finally some fake DoF made in photoshop. I think it looks pretty "anime-ish" And the shader here helps a lot! Much better than any other toon shader I've tried.
