The rendering times between Bryce 4 and 5 aren't really that different. If it's 3 times as long, it sounds like you had Premium Anti-Aliasing turned on, but all of the effects turned off, and left the rays/pixel at the default 32 or 64. (Which is twice/four times as many as super AA) That's what it sounds like anyways.. I may be wrong ;)
