(stated generally to the thread, not to anyone in particular)  
Jen shouldn't have to lock a staff picks thread, it's an established thing by now and there's a reason it's called "Staff Picks" and not "here's what's popular this week".  The one time one of my images was chosen made me feel pretty good that someone noticed the work I put into it.  No one was required to like it.   Had that thread turned the way this has it would have generated some bad feelings, something that really isn't necessary and is really unfair to those whose images were chosen.
