I like how PP does hair. Not sure what I'm doing differently, but hair seems to look more like hair and less like clumps of mesh:

It did mean having to go into the bump map and texture map (everything except the colour map) and setting Gamma to Custom Gamma value: 1. These are extra options that come up in the texture manager dialogue, which comes up when you click on the Image_Source name field.
