Is this the reason I have had a couple of Facebook friends request emails because I use this site? I thought they were just spam that got past my junk mail. Not impressed if that is the reason. I don't do the facebook twittering thing so I should not be getting that kind of stuff.

the friends request thing here, which has been here FOR 2 YEARS +, is a glorified "Favorite Artists" feature.  
I don't know  why your facebook friends are asking for your email address, you may want to check with them.  I doubt Renderosity, or our "friend" feature, has anything to do with it.
