The eyes and mouth do not need to show through the ghosted skin.
There is a way to avoid showing nested surfaces.
I'm too tired to find the post, but there's one about ghosting using ray-tracing at RDNA. I wrote in it and so did Olivier.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
