Really depends on what you do with your computer.
I do a lot of 3d modeling, rendering and video editing...and yes, x64bit made a big difference. I noticed that all of my "more intense" programs (max, photoshop, zbrush) performed remarkably better. A whole lot less (if any) crashes.
