You may need a monitor driver as well. This will tell Windows what the correct native resolution is, and you'll be able to get more pixels.
Most monitors come with a CD with the necessary drivers installed, and software to configure monitor properties independent of your specific display card. See if you have one.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
