the free "version" is not available yet ...
considering the wording is free version, is there going to be a payfer version as well?
if so, what be the difference ?
That chameleon shader is really cool. can't wait to try that one on that tuner set from DAZ.

The attached image uses only free materials on the car, as you can see nothing is missing!
The Free version of the car materials comes with 42 Materials. EVERY shader is included in the free package, The Market Place version comes with the full (and updated from the last set) manufacturer color matched paints and interior color sets for quick and easy application. you also get some free procedural materals for ground planes and light boxes. A PDF document with scene setup instructions and car rendering tips for people new to rendering cars in poser. At the end of the document is a full listing of known free car models (well the high quality ones I know of), with links to there download pages, and website links to great free 3D websites (such as dmi-car models and 3d-model blogspot)
Below is a listing of each material catagory, in brackets is the the number of color variations for that catagory, (free/full)
BodyChameleon (4/9)
BodyClearcoat (6/17)
BodyMatte (1/6)
BodyMettalic Clearcoat (8/28)
BodySilver (1/3)
BodySparkle (13/13)
BodyStudio Glazing (5/11)
Glass (3/6)
Glass Moulded (3/12)
Grilles (2/4)
InteriorCarpet (3/10)
InteriorFelt (3/10)
InteriorLeather (3/10)
interiorMetallic Fittings (2/4)
InteriorNylon (3/10)
InteriorPlastic (3/10)
InteriorSeatbelt (3/10)
Metals (Anodized, Chrome, Painted) (4/19)
Plastics (1/4)
Rubber (2/4)
The full version will be around $5 (I havent submitted a product in years so I dont know the costs)
I believe profit should come from sales figures, not margins. If you sell a good product at a high price, of course it will sell, but if you sold it a low price, it will sell extremely well. with no real upkeep costs, its the way to go!

Well although I practically never render cars, I will most likely buy the "commercial" version, one can never have too many shaders :)
Especially if it's at such a low price :)

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I have no problem whatsoever paying for this package.
And I was just thinking that my question starting this thread about your original shaders sure came up at the right time :)

TGX, your results are fantastic. I've been extremely busy at work and have not had a chance to try these myself. But I'm very anxious to do so.
Congratulations on finishing it. It's a monumental work.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Part of the PDF that comes with the full package includes a screencap tutorial on each shader showing how to incorporate diffuse, bump and specular(where appropriate) maps.
This Mig 13 is using the MetalsAlloy Clean shader with the diffuse map also working as bump
The alloy shader I came up with is my favourite shader I have created to date. You can use it for practically anything metallic, and it always comes out rendering fantastic. it can go from a dull flat metal to a silvery shiny polished steel by changing a few colors!

I finally had a chance to have a look.
If you mean TGX's Sparkle/Silver... it has a blue Diffuse_Color. Odd.

You made that!? well let me officially thank you for the fantastic free model! I swear, the stuff from the community that comes with poser, is better than the stuff that Smith Micro made!
The PDF is going into the final touches today/tonight, then I will get a few friends to test it out and make sure its readable, then its time to upload that package!

does someone have an interpretation list for the /dmi car groups?
I was doing it word for word, but that is a real pain. Maybe I need to learn French.

ah ... so it will be out soon
you know, that word, many years ago, meant any day now, but now it means sometime down the road, which could be any day now or even months, sometimes years.

It gets funnier when you get to distance. If you ask the Africans how far something is, this is expressed as "not so far", "a little bit far", and "very far". Once you get used to it, these are actual distances:
Not so far - you can walk there in ten or twenty minutes
A little bit far - more than an hours walk
Very far - you better have a car
If it is really far, then it is "two days" or "three days", reffering to how long it would take you to walk there.
Your specialist military, sci-fi, historical and real world site.
And here in S. California distance is normally measured in hours. When my mom came out to visit she asked how far it was to the next town. I told her 25 to 30 mins. Then she asked how far to LA. The answer was 2 and a half hours. She asked me why everyone in California gave hours instead of miles. I let her know that the distance in miles really didn't tell you how long it would actually take to get there. When under certain conditions like time of day, weather and such. Could make a three mile drive take 2 hours to get there. I remember being parked on the freeway for over an hour more than once. Just waiting for traffic to move. Heaven forbid there was an accident on the road. You might as well turn around and go home.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the huuge and sudden absence there. Life took a turn for the better, but it also took up all my time! I've moved twice and changed jobs 3 times in the last 6 months, but I finally have wireless broadband now, so Im back online! :D
Helgard and I are working on the final details for releasing the full car material pack at ONTARGET3D along with a sweet deal to get cheaper cars!
The cars over there are absolutely fantastic, if you havent looked, you really should!

@templargfx
I'm interested in knowing what car that is in your posts, slightly past midway down on page 7, where you discuss chameleon paint. And where it can be gotten if publicly available.
On a different point, I've just noticed... How come this forum don't use post numbers? :D
