Apple produces closed proprietary systems, both in hardware and software.
If choice is not important, then it's a great solution.
If one desires the ability to use hardware and software from all the rest of the world, then it's not so hot.
There is one special circumstance when apple products excel. If you are purchasing technology for someone who can barely run the toaster, say your 80 year old grandmother, then it's a good choice.
