Subject: The Logo and a new VC

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 7:37 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 9:24 AM

Hi, Once again, I'm behind schedule. :/ But, we need to decide on a logo for the future VC's, so y'all please have a look at the announcements box and find the lik which says: The Vue Forum Sub-Challenge For July 2001 is "Design an Award Logo" Click Here For Details!! Then, come back here and vote for one. Please? Then we'll figure out what to do about the upcoming Vue Challenge.... I'll kick it off by casting my first vote, for Guitta's design. Although I liked them all. :) All 3 of them that is.... Thanks to those who entered: Guitta, Raven, and Dolly. :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 7:39 AM

And if y'all don't vote, I'm going to, literally just select one at random.... :/ yes, you can vote for yourself if you'd like.....

dolly ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 7:41 AM

Hey mike however much im tempted to vote dolly lol, my vote goes to guitta as i like it very much

agiel ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 7:42 AM

My vote goes to Raven for the logo. As for the upcoming VC, I can suggest the 'cookbook' idea (I dont know if you got the mail I sent you). Basically, it would be about making a close up of a prepared dish as they would appear in a cookbook. I thought that would make a change from sceneries.

agiel ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 7:44 AM

Oh... my vote goes to Guitta for the vue challenge. His work has been outstanding (I still have to reattach my jaw from the 'postcard').

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 8:30 AM

Thanks guys. :) Agiel, that sounds like a cool idea, and I did get your email. Sorry I haven't replied, but what with this PC trouble, I've been very busy. By the way, Guitta is a She. :)

agiel ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 8:35 AM

Ooops... I had no idea. Sorry about that.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 8:36 AM

My vote goes to all of them, I like them all....I know I have to choose one, Gutta's is the one, nice job to you all. Sharen

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:01 AM

hmmm... i still like yours best, mike, but you didnt make it into a logo-ized version like i told you to :/ (no, you didnt lose it, it's still posted here on the boards somewhere!) :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:10 AM

Thanks Bloodsong, but I didn't want to enter, myself. :) I guess you saw about the problem I had. I had saved alot of Vue 3 pictures to CD, but still hadn't gotten around to putting anything from Vue 4 on to CD. Seems kind of strange, me having to re-download my own pictures.... :/

SAMS3D ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:17 AM

You know Mike I was thinking, I know there were rules to this, but since there are only three to choose from, and they are all so good, why can't we use all of them. What I mean is, let the people who win them have a choice of the three of which one they can use on their site. Does there have to be only one? What do you think, or is this a bad idea? Sharen

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:19 AM

I really like the colors on Dolly's, and the cool "otherworldly" feeling of Raven's, but my pick would be Guitta's for packing so much into such a small area. I think the cookbook illustrations is a cool idea for a sub-challenge, for August or perhaps another. Hope you're relocating everything okay, Mike. :)

tradivoro ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:21 AM

Where does one view the logos to vote on??

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 9:42 AM

Right here: Sub-Challenge Logo Thread And I like Sharen's idea, too. Heck, I like everyone's ideas this morning. :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 10:42 AM

Yeah, I can see that, so why not, eh? OK, new rule: if it was an entry, you can use it. The whole premise behind the VC's to begin with was to not be a competition. :) BUT.... we will have to vote on future VC entries, in order to go along with the new rules that the winner gets to pick the following challenge. I'll do something real soon about clarifying what's going on. I'm still trying to get everything back, and I'm learning some of the advanced features of Norton System Works. Evidently it has alot of backup options, and I don't want this to ever happen again, that I lose so much....

tradivoro ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 11:20 AM

Well, I vote for Raven's.. And yes, I thought that this month we were going to start voting on the VC so that the winner would pick the new challenge... Are we going to start doing that in August??

Jackson ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 2:28 PM

I like Guitta's overall look the best. But the overlapping letters in the lower right corner I think would disqualify her in a regular design contest (unless it was an integral part of the design). As a symetrical person, I can't go with Dolly, either. The text lines don't look properly placed or leaded (either or both). And the vertical lines in her frame aren't the same thickness as the horizontal lines. So I gotta go with Raven, although I wish it were a little brighter.

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 2:36 PM

That's right, we were going to start voting this month for the winner to pick the next VC.... Personally, I'd like to give it another day or 2 so I can get my PC straightened back out. I did have the various URLS and stuff saved, but it's all gone now.... I'll see what I can get together by tomorrow- we just might have to be a few days behind...

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 2:47 PM

I think we can certainly afford to take a couple days and let you get yourself feeling "settled" again (or as close as you can get under the cirumstances). :)

Axe555 ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 3:23 PM

I think they all look great too, but I have to go with Guitta's :) Rich

tradivoro ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 4:01 PM

Hey, the voting for the VCs can start whenever, I was just wondering if this was the month or next month (I know, it's next month already :) ).. By all means take all the time you need to build up your computer, I'm sure that's still a drag and a half...

SAMS3D ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 4:48 PM

Yes, Mike take your time, we are not in any hurry. Take a deep breath, put your computer back together and then we will do what ever. Okay, Sharen:)

Petunia ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 5:09 PM

With or without my glasses? Guitta's :)

Sacred Rose ( ) posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 10:04 PM

Have to agree with the mainstream. With my bifocal's and like Petunia, without them ;] I have to choose Guitta's. Although, they are all quite lovely :D Can't join in on this coming months VC, but will hopefully be back in time for the following one? Good luck everyone. Take care ~beck

I'm a bit late for this. Sorry. But as I was away from my computer for a few days, I had not read all the messages. I love best sharens, really. But for my taste, on a screen setted to 800x600 it is a little too big. As this will be mostly used near a thumbnail? I like it because it is simple and nice. Could Sharen make it a bit smaller ? I also agree that we could have more then only one design for the award. What are you other people thinking about ? :-) Guitta

Guitta, Sharen didn't make one. Were you refering to Raven's or Dolly's? :)

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 06 August 2001 at 1:38 AM

Sorry, where was my head! I wanted to say Raven's :-)
