 This is what I've found in the Lux faq:

path tracing is only usually better for exterior skylight rendered scenes.
bidir is better for any type of interior scene.

If you do renders with "sunsky", use the GUI, tab "Render Settings", and change the "Integrator" from Bidirectional to Path.

If you don't use the GUI, open file AIR/LuxPose/data/dataOut.bbml and change "bidirectional" to "path" manually.
