We non Platinum members( DAZ3d.com) will have to wait.

I'm excited!!!!

I'm not..The price is way too high especially as I have acesss to Bryce 7 Pro for far less..

DaveF ( ) posted Sat, 28 August 2010 at 8:05 AM

@josterD:  It will be worth the wait! I installed it yesterday and the results — even at the default settings — are stunning! Well worth the investment, IMO!

So how much longer do we have to wait? Days or weeks?

Hey guys I think i know when Reality for nonplatinum users will be on sale

There is a clue in the daz website

For platinum users "Sale Price: $49.57
Save 38% through 09/21/2010"

That means probably we non platinum users will be seeing Reality for sale for us, at about September 21. Just my guess :)

I bought Reality yesterday and although it takes a getting a little used to, but I love the results so far. Here is if one of my first renders using Chow M4 (coming soon to Rendo) and Jet M4 (just released). I did the DS MATs for them so they import just fine in Reality (I did have to manually add the Spec maps, but just took me two minutes... i put in a bug report for that minor issue).

I'm redoing the render to turn off some of the glossy items, but even the poser-specific items look good when imported into the renderer.

So you think Reality is worth it? Some people over at Poser forum, are saying it's not worth the money.

Male_M3dia ( ) posted Sun, 29 August 2010 at 11:51 AM · edited Sun, 29 August 2010 at 11:54 AM

I think it's definitely worth the money. I've been playing around with it since yesterday and I love the results I've been getting so far. I don't have to juggle multiple lights around trying to achieve the same results.

And the image I posted above, I set that up in about 15 minutes. Then I was able to adjust the lights because it was a bit bright without stopping the rendering. I also like the fact that it gives even the Poser-specific scenes and props (that don't have DS-specific MATs) a totally new look as well. And having easy access to another renderer that gives great results is never a bad thing.

So I wouldn't take the advice of someone who actually hasn't tried it. ;)

EDIT: I also showed the above render to JSGraphics and he ended up buying the tool himself even though he's a Poser user. He loved the way his textures came out and wants to use it for his renders too.

I am not getting good results at all.  I cannot light interiors and my figures come out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay  too white.

How are you setting up the scene? I know if I created a 'Sun' distant light it would make the interiors way too bring and I had to bring down the gain. If the scene doesn't have windows/outside opening, I think you would have to put either a distant light or mesh light to add light indoors.

Thanks.  I do have a distant light.  I will have to check and see how it is set up.  Here is the DS render.

Are you suing a skydome for the cloud cover? If so, try to set the material as "matte translucent" and see if you get light.

No skydome, but the Vista A does have a roof on it.

If the light is outside of the room, you will get better results faster if you use a 'Portal'.  That basically tells LuxRender where to concentrate the light rays.  If you are using Reality, which i am assuming you are, there is a portal prop included.  Read the manual on how to get it to work.

Did you guys see these?

No post work. They're awesome. People at DAZ forum are posting their renders in a thread.

and this one is awesome

i made it jpg low quality so you won't see the great detail . but you can see it at daz forum

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 02 September 2010 at 8:51 PM

Yep.  I've seen them.  The only thing wrong with them in my opinion is the characters skin.  Does not look very good to me.  Everything else looks pretty good though.

JenX ( ) posted Fri, 03 September 2010 at 10:06 AM

josterD, do you have the artists' permission to post these here?  If not, I'm going to go ahead and remove them.  Please just link to the thread instead.
