THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 7 and DS3

ladylake ( ) posted Tue, 31 August 2010 at 5:54 PM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 12:44 PM

Is anyone else having trouble using the two together???

1.  If you send a figure to Bryce7 from DS3 most times it does not have hair or props (jewelry/etc) with it.   If it doesn't bring in everything what real good is it?  (I can't paint hair worth a darn!!!  LOL)

2.   The figure looks so good in DS and just okay in Bryce. Somehow taking it to Bryce degrades the quality.

3.  I can use DS and find a previously created scene...(.daz file extention) and open it.  If I first open Bryce, use the DS button and then try to find that scene it is not there at all.  The file just does not appear.  I can't  figure it out.

4.  I downloaded the Bryce update that Thelby posted about.  So far can see no difference.  Still can't open any of the Bryce premium things in the presets.

I am sure a lot of this is operator error, but would be nice to know how to fix these things.  Help, anyone?

1)Send figure through.Go back to DS3 and highlight what didn't go through and try again.

  1. Well some IBL lighting will soon fix that..

3)Open DS first, open scene and then click on send to Bryce..At the moment to send from Bryce to DS you can only send terrains and they will be untextured.

As to 4 you will have to use the bug tracker over at Daz and report the issue.or go to support and read through the FAQ sheet provided. If your answer isn't there then contact them direct and complain.I've found them very helpful over technical glitches.

!.  Tried the suggested regarding going back and selecting the part that didn't get sent to Bryce........still does not work.

2.   Lighting is not the problem.

3.  Wasn't trying to send anything from Bryce.....was trying to use the DS button in Bryce and get the figure that way.  I used to be able to do that with Bryce 5.5 and earlier DS version.  I would open DS, import my Poser completed figure, and then it would go to Bryce.  (the whole thing)  Guess this doesn't work like that anymore.  :-(

4.  Will try that.

Thanks for the reply.

When you open Daz from the Bryce program and go into Daz to set your figure up..as soon as you have it like you want it you go to the file menu in Daz and there is a selection towards the bottom that says "send to Bryce" and thats how you have to do it now in the new versions.  Be sure you have everything selected that you want to send back to Bryce.

But what if I want to use a figure I have already set up at another time?    I should be able to open it there in DS and send to Bryce.   What I am saying is that a saved  file will not show if you have gone into DS FROM Bryce.

I think I will go back to taking photos until they get this stuff perfected.  I just don't  have much patience for things that do not work for me.  I would just go back to using Bryce 5.5 and the earlier DS but my older version of Poser will not work with the Win 7 on this new computer.   Things have just gotten to difficult to be fun.  :-))

Thanks fo the reply though.

Re number 3

You cannot do it that way anymore. You set up the figure( I always save at this point) and then use the send to Bryce option. If you have saved a scene and then open it in DS3 then use the send to Bryce option it should still work.

Take a look at this http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=144018

there are a whole pile of video tutorials about using Bryce 7.There is one specific one about how to use the bridge between DS and Bryce 7.

All of those tutorials are very useful and will teach you to to achieve some good result.

As to the lighting well it IS the lighting that is affecting the textures.Get the lighting right in Bryce and the textures will improve.

I cannot see that textures do not work as well in Bryce 7 as they do in DS3

i use b6 and daz studio 2. Right now i get a lot of crashes if i use the studio bridge in b7 pro. i'm having other issues as well but i still think b7 is more fun than b6 :).texture in bryce an studio are not the same in some ways. in bryce the ambient should be set to zero on skin. Specular maps do not get across from studio and needs to be manualy inserted. thats quite a long prosess. the bump channel works different in studio.

Thanks dyret.  Appreciated.   Glad it is not just me.

Yes I am having the same problem... And it is really annoying... There are no tutorials in doing this BTW...
I solved the problem by selecting one by one the non corforming Items ( hair too), and right clicking there is an Unparent Item option. After that I select all in the left side column and send to bryce... It does work...
Now I have to findout how can get my materials looking as in poser cus so far they showup very dull in Bryce ... :-(
 Hope it helps...

Hugs to you......I was beginning to believe that it was me.  Most  everyone seemed to lean their answers to me that way anyway.  :-)

There is but only for simple objects.
Flowers go through well.

I also found that somehow animations were involved and that to remove animations from the zeroed figure BEFORE posing or dressing helped.I've also done it by sending the figure through and leaving it there and then going back and highlighting that which did NOT go through and sending it through alone.that worked which is how I got the figure through in my previous screen shot.

However as this still seems to be a bug I think it's one to report in the bug tracker over at Daz and in the forums at Daz.It's more likely to be addressed there if enough people make an issue about it there.

Thanks for that link  That will come in handy. Just upgraded from vista 32 to Win 7 64 and added 4GB RAM to max my current system out at 8GB. Will have to play after my move is done.

Incognitas ( ) posted Sun, 05 September 2010 at 5:02 AM

I have done some investigating and so far the only time I have any trouble in getting a figure into Bryce 7 from DS3 is when the DS specific Elite textures are applied. Then DS3 has a hissy fit and closes down.

Otherwise I've had few problems..thus far

.I will let you know of any others I encounter.
