If you're not terminally afraid of command line (bad pun, I know), I would suggest ffmpeg, free software. Works fine in Linux boxes, should work also in MS Windows.

I compile png-files to mpeg2 (dvd)-format often. Jpg and avi should be supported AFAIK.
