Hmmm, that depends, Acadia. I got all these utilities from the Best Buy techie crowd which they thought were a good idea to have and use to keep the netbook running smoothly, but I already use other stuff like CrapCleaner and proggies like that that are free, and the BestBuy thingies were all trialware so I sort of decided I didn't really want to pay money for something I didn't want. Rather spend the money on shoes.... real or virtual.
You'll usually find an AOL software thing and some anti-virus trial like Norton which I wouldn't use if someone tied me up and threatened me with nasty virus infections: Norton slows everything down so MUCH. It's such a hog... plus you have to pay for it. And there's heaps of excellent free antivirus programmes out there, like Avira and like that.
Oh, and invariably you get some trial Microsoft Office version... that gets un-installed quick-smart. My last Office version - one that I still use - is Office 2000. It's clean and does everything I need it to. And I know how it works.
Some Toshiba stuff I left on because it didn't take hardly any space either on the hard drive or in memory. I'm willing to be educated whether it's essential or not. Toshiba Bulletin Board... probably some driver update thingie. HP might have something similar.
