Wouldn't be a pistol- most monsters wouldn't flinch at a single bullet (unless it's a .50 cal.) Mike'd have to have a sawed-off shotgun (a.k.a. boomstick)- even werewolves don't take well to having a significant chunk of their body turned into a fine red mist...
