The Emitter would have to be so close to my subject to light it that it would be visible to the camera. So I have these terribly sharp shadows and I'm not happy with them. I tried using a sun and & sky lighting instead but the amount of fireflies suddenly was insane and I didn't want to deal with them. I just exported and left it to render while I went to Starbucks and the grocery store.
Maybe you should read the "offical" docu about the LuxRender GUI, how to use "Tone Mapping" etc.
