if you are talking about the Tuscan TVR, that is the Predator by "The Hankster" although its not in the marketplace anymore (the poser version)

I have just finished writing the readme file for the Car Materials 2010 pack, which means as soon as I get it to Helgard, he can make the pack available for purchase!

It took 3 minutes to build the scene, 2 minutes to apply materials to the car, and 4 hours to render! :p

Just bought it.

Headlights? All I see it this...

"CAR MATERIALSGLASS MOULDED

This shader attempts to simulate indicator/brake covers that have moulded interiors without having the geometry to support it."

Am I misreading something here?

Cherokee,

Inside the Glass Moulded folder you will see four types of glass in three colours. The horizontal and vertical stripes, as well as pyramid and rough pyramid. The clear glass ones are for use on headlights, the yellow and red for use on indicators and brake lights.

Before your post, I thought I'd try that but it sure didn't turn out looking like the posts here. It was mainly black and yeah, I had raytracing and displacements turned on.

I am not sure of your settings, but the look of the glass will also depend on what is behind it, so if there is a seperate material group for the area behind the light, make that chrome.

Can you maybe post a picture of what you are getting and then we can see what the problem is.

yes, what is behind the glass will drastically effect how it looks. try using CAR MATERIALSMETALSPLATINUM material behind the glass. this is an extremely bright white metal, and really brings out the colors.  If you make the material behind the light completely ambient, the headlights will look like they are on (though they will not produce light.

I promised a PDF toturial a while back, and I still fully intend to build one, and will release it to those who have purchased the full pack.

that particular render that Helgard put up, uses platinum behind the lights adn vert. Stripe Clear glass mould. a single infinite light, and a HDR enviro sphere with GI turned on.

Also remember to check your raytrace bounces. If the model has the glass as double sided, in other words, a layer of polygons for the front of the glass and a layer of polygons for the back, then you will need three raytrace bounces, two for the glass and one for the chrome reflection. If the glass is single sided you will just need two.

This image is a quick test just to test the glass headlight shader on a random model. Ignore the rest of the model, I have not fixed or textured that, just the lights. You can see what the glass is supposed to look like.

Thanks guys. Tonight when I got home from work and I found the problem. There is nothing behind the glass so I'm going to have to add something there.

just put a box or sphere behind them and add the platinum material to the box/sphere

ok, so I scratched the above scene, the darkness just wasnt working for me :p

this is my next wip, its a recycle of the fairlady scene, which has just a fantastic GI environment

the wheel displacement is hugely overdone, must have done a typo!

any suggestions?

I think the lighting is great. But, I hope you don't my saying so, the whole left front fender looks like rubber, not paint.

yeah it doesnt usually come out so grainy, I had pixel samples at 3, which is pretty low but still you are right, I think the "spec" color on this paint is too vibrant compared to the paint color
