That depends on your system. If it can handle the external renderer and the Vue interface running at the same time, then yes. I have a 64bit Windows 7 i930 with 12Gb of ram and I can run both as long as the scenes do not get too complex. However, anything you do in Vue will suck up cpu cycles, so you do slow down the renderer and if you run out of memory it will crash.
