Poser's Python is an unregistered install, i.e. it has no registry entries to allow other programs to know of it's existence.

My first guess is that the other program installed an incompatible copy of MSVCRT.DLL and/or one or more other common DLL in Window's system directory.

Tracking down and fixing this sort of thing can be really tricky.
