I used to use the GIMP until KobaltKween convinced me that I really should give Photoshop a try. I was able to find a copy of CS3 on eBay for AUD$ 85!!! plus shipping: shrink-wrapped and totally legitimate. So, I've been doing everything I can to learn this incredibly complex (full-featured) programme. I agree with you on this, Acadia: very, very complex programme!

I reckon if you want to get things done, stay with what you know and what works for you. When you have time - which I never seem to have enough of - then learn a new app.

One of our premiere artists, Callad - who uses Daz Studio and Reality, incidentally - went from Photoshop 7 to the GIMP recently. He didn't say why, but he'd just got a new computer which I suspect was 64-bit and was therefore unable to get certain apps to run on it, which is why he went with GIMP... which I understand does come in a 64-bit flavour.

Learning curve for the GIMP? pretty much like Blender. You love it or you hate it. I'm weird, so I love them both. But I'm getting my head around Photoshop (play a LOT with tutorials!) and growing quite fond of it. For the first bit, however, I had to force myself not to open The GIMP at all.

ETA: oh, I forgot to say: the artist I work together with - HeRaZa - uses PSP. She's productive... I'm only marginally so. That should say volumes. :smiles:
