Nice start to the month's challenge Frodo, gotta love those coinkydinks!

And a nice choice Carin, I'm going off to plan some images....   👍

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

So where do they go when a photograph leaves you speechless?

babuci ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2010 at 4:30 AM

Good and interesting idea Carin.

Question/ rule bending: Is the inverted silhouette count as a silhouette?

Meisiekind ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2010 at 12:34 PM

@ Frodo = great start. Love the bird in flight.

@ Tunde = What an idea... inverted Silhouette! That would be neat. Please show us how that is done! :))

Too lazy to go outside so some silly 'studio shot'. I though the lensbaby (lens) more interesting then a normal lens.

@ emmecielle - Love the cool tones in your wonderful tree silhouette. The pink pops in the clouds add some magic.

@ Helle - and yours is just the opposite - wonderful warm glow behind your lovely tree silhouette

@ Tunde - WOW - that is incredible. WOnderful and perfect contrast between black & white.

@ Marilyn - Awww - that is so you. Marvelous pre-sunset and the lifesaver hut reminds me of Miami!! Great one girlfriend!

Late to the party, as usual! LOL And the "opening acts" are impossible to follow! I had deleted this photo because I wasn't sure I liked the way the sun hit the indian maiden and made her so indistinct, but on second thought, it might work for this challenge and maybe I can do something more to it to make it work in the gallery...  This is a flat Iron statue in the park next to the Texas City Dike right near where all the wind surfers like to ride the waves.

Very neat shot, Babuci. You're right, the lensbaby did make for an interesting silhouette.

babuci ( ) posted Sat, 06 November 2010 at 1:16 AM

@ Liam, I reckon your picture is a fine exsample of of colored silhouette.

From wiki...

"From its original graphic meaning, the term "silhouette" has been extended to describe the sight or representation of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Yours fit right into this."

Most marvelous image folks!! Every one is special in its own way!

I'm so sorry I cannot be here as often as I want to. I am hoping that things at work will at least be a little less hectic soon.

Hugs all!

Carin

Mario, I love that lighting! How beautifully the insect is seen through that leaf.

emmecielle, you have shown a good eye for composition.

And Tara, that sky is a perfect backdrop for those trees! The color is so rich and warming.

These are wonderful photos for study.

This is is not so lovely as the sunsets but is solid steel and concrete.

Emmecielle, your sunset gives me a view of Sicilian terrain I did not know.

Powerful. A wonderful contrast between the gentle sky and the strong lines of the bridge, Tom.

When doing this sort of thing, composition can make of break the photo. Mario, your composition provides detail without texture. Amazing.

WOW! I have been without ebots for days. ALOT has happened in here untill today, when I finally got an ebot.  I am really thrilled to see all you have posted. So many beautiful and exiting silhouettes.

Silhouette party WOO HOO !!! lol!

OK here is one I made in my window yesterday afternoon, thinking of this challenge.

Maybe I should explain that this is a little statue my father bought, when he was in his period of the easter Island study... he studied everything, he got interested in. All his life. Not a few things, I asure ya :)
