Quote - Facebook is GREAT! For staying in touch with people you've known in real life, and fallen out of touch with. I am now in contact with people from high school, former customers of mine from the early 1980s, and a ton of people I worked with at disney.

I don't think its so much a place to make new freinds at, but a place to help you stay in contact with real life freinds.

Yep. I just got a facebook account last summer and looked up all of my friends from high school and nursing school.

Only a handfull of my facebook friends are friends I've met online, and none are friends of friends that I don't know.

So far as meeting people goes, go out and get involved in life.  Volunteer at a hospital. It's a great way to meet new people: other volunteers etc.  Try volunteering at a nursing home too.  There are lots of seniors who are isolated from their own families and have no visitors and would enjoy the company. One of my very best friends was a lady that was 40 years older than me. I met her when I was in my early 20's and she became like a second Mom to me. She died 6 years ago.  So never discount the ability to be friends with an older person.

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it! My advice is get off the computer and go out into the world and start interacting with people. You will get no where if you solely depend on the internet for your social life.

"It is good to see ourselves as others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to say." - Ghandi
