Oh, about those .dat files.... were they in the figures folder?
If so I believe they are joint data for the universal poses. They are sets of poses that are supposed to work on almost all of the figures availiable. There are a few other .dat files for uninstallation. so I would be a little warey of deleting stuff. Since I'm still too poor for Poser Pro 2010, I'm stuck with Poser 7. But I have 230 .dat files in my Poser folder and they may be needed if I wanted to convert a v4 pose to work with Sydney or any other figure, because their joints are different. That's what most of those .dat files are for.
